Hey there. This is Amanda Ross with Brand In A Snap. And this is video number four in our ten part series on the ten ways that your website is saying no to your clients and we want it to say yeah. Yes, baby.
In number four, we’re gonna talk about you want me to do what?When? Hold on I don’t even know you yet.
What we mean here is that when you go to a website and you just get there and all of a sudden this popup comes up and it says hey sign up for this thing and you’re like, ooh whoa. Dude, we don’t even know each other yet. Like, simmer down, simmer down.
If you have a popup that is jumping at your clients or your potential clients, right away, you may want to rethink that.

We want to give them a little bit of breathing space. We wanna get to know each other, wanna do a little dance first, okay? So we wanna maybe send some messages back and forth before we start going on dinner dates. Ya know what I’m sayin’?
That’s basically what we’re doing here. We wanna give them a little breathing space so that they can see who you are, gain some information about you and if they’re at the right place. Maybe they clicked on the link and they’re like, oh this isn’t really what I thought it was. I thought it was something else.
We want to make sure that we give them some time, just a little bit of time, to sort of review what you are, who you are, what you’re about, which should be bam, right away anyway.
It shouldn’t be too hard for them to figure out when they get to your website. And then we want to offer, hey sign up for a thing.
There’s different ways to do it. As they scroll down, maybe 75%, that’s when the popup comes up or maybe it’s when they’re about to leave. We can do things like that where the mouse is just about to leave and the popup comes up.
Or, the website says, “Hey wait a second, don’t leave yet. Sign up for this thing.” Or maybe it’s just at the bottom of all your blog posts or whatever it might be, but we do not love it. I know I don’t love it.
I hate it when it’s like hey sign up for this and I’m like, hold on, who are you again? I don’t even know how I get here. Gimme me a second. So don’t do that. Give them a second. Give them a couple seconds just to review your site. We don’t wanna turn people off. Stuff like that’s a bit of a turn off, seems a little bit desperate. We desperate? We’re not desperate around here.
